Desert Botanical Garden – Phoenix, AZ

The Desert Botanical Garden, which we visited in early April 2023 after several friends recommended to visit it during the Spring season, is one of the landmarks of the Phoenix Valley. It is home to thousands of species of cacti, trees and flowers from all around the world. Its brightly colored plants sharply contrast the Sonoran Desert’s cinnamon-red buttes, and numerous hiking trails – like the Plants and People of the Sonoran Desert and the Harriet K. Maxwell Desert Wildflower Loop trails – allow visitors to experience the region’s natural wonders the way early settlers once did.

We were surprised by the fact that the Desert Botanical Garden also hosts numerous events, including culinary demonstrations and outdoor concert series. There was even a small fair, with local people selling small plants and cacti, which we spent some time on.

The garden sits about 4 miles south of downtown Scottsdale. On-site facilities include a garden shop and a restaurant, which we visited after going through all of the garden.
